Spring Home Maintenance

Spring Home Maintenance tips

Is your home ready for SPRING?

Now that the sun is shining, and everything is blooming in California it’s time to get ready for spring. Regular home maintenance helps keep your home healthy and running smooth and efficient as we go into the summer months.  A few hours on Saturdays working on the house will save you time and money in the future.

  1. Gutters

Is there anything growing up there. Time to clean out the debris (leaves and dirt) out of the gutters and check the drains to make sure they are clear of blocks. Make sure that all gutters and downspouts are securely attached to the house and repair if needed.

  1. Check Out Your Roof

Use binoculars (or zoom in with your cell phone) and look at the roof to see if there are any shingles/ tiles out of place or broken. Look around the vent pipes and see that all the flashings are in place. Your roof is one of the most important parts of your house for protection from the environment. If you feel that you need a roof inspection let us know and we can refer you to our favorite Roofing Contractors in the area.

  1. Get Your Air Conditioner Serviced.

It can get warm pretty quick here in California’s Central Valley. This is an inexpensive service (just like changing the oil in your car) If you don’t get it serviced BEFORE it gets hot you may spend a few days with no A/C when it’s hot. Again, if you need a referral please let us know.

  1. Safety!

Time to check/change the batteries in your Smoke detector and Carbon Monoxide Detectors. Batteries need to be changed twice a year. Also, If you have smoke detectors more than 10 years old we recommend getting new ones. Your local hardware store has plenty to choose from and changing them only takes moments. Better to be safe that sorry.

  1. Water/ Landscaping

Before you turn your sprinklers on check to make sure the valves and sprinklers are not leaking and intact. Usually, we have several sprinkler heads that have to be replaced in the spring. Also, there are usually “Watering Days” allowed by your city. Make sure to check your City guidelines. If you need help getting your landscaping done and ready for spring or need maintenance call Alejandro’s Landscaping 209-408-5842. Let him know we sent you and he will get your yard looking great.

Trivia: Did you know that we have inspected over 7500 homes in Northern California and counting!!!
