Common Laundry Room Issues We Catch — and How to Prevent Them
Here’s something we see in a lot of inspections — and it’s often overlooked: the laundry room.
From fire hazards to slow leaks, this small space causes more trouble than most people expect. We put together a simple checklist your clients can use to keep things safe, clean, and running smoothly — whether they’re getting ready to list or just moved in.
🔧 Here’s what we recommend (because we see it all the time):
1. Clean the Dryer Vent
Built-up lint = fire risk. Clean the trap after every load and have the vent professionally cleaned once a year.
2. Inspect Washer Hoses
Old rubber hoses? Cracks? Bulges? It’s time to swap them out — braided stainless is the way to go.
3. Check Dryer Ventilation
Dryers should vent outside. Blockages or poor airflow can cause moisture issues and mold buildup in walls.
4. Add a Water Shut-Off Valve
If there’s no accessible shutoff, now’s the time. It can prevent major water damage when something fails.
5. Clean Behind Appliances
Dust and lint build up fast. A quick vacuum and wipe-down once a month makes a real difference.
This is one of those quick wins your clients will appreciate — and it might just prevent a problem before we have to write it up in the report.
Appreciate you — let us know how we can support you this season.
